The Precision Turbo 6870 has been the long awaited turbo for many enthusiasts. Utilizing Precision GEN 2 aerodynamics, this ball bearing only 6870 turbo from Precision is the ultimate 1000 RWHP turbo for 2JZ and other car owners.
The hype on this turbo since March of 2014 has been incredible, and based upon initial testing by our good friends at SP (see embedded video below), this Precision 6870 produces!
The Precision 6870 is available in both undivided (open) and divided housings.
Best performance to date on the open (undivided) housing turbo with a 2JZ has somewhat surprisingly been on the .81 A/R housing over the .96. The thought is that the compressor is simply running out of ability to produce any more air at 37+ psi.
The .84 A/R housing divided 6870 should provide the best overall spool and power as compared to the 1.0 and 1.15 A/R housings. For those desiring to run a QSV on an open manifold and a divided housing, then the 1.0 A/R is the hot ticket.
What is impressive with the 6870 turbo, is that it spools almost the same as the famous 6766 turbo, yet it builds more torque and power through the entire range.
If you're looking for the ultimate 1000 rwhp turbo for a race fuel or E85 car, then this is an excellent choice. If you still want to be able to run pump gas at 14psi, you'll most likely have to stick with the 6766 unless you have 95+ Octane fuel available near you.
At present, the baddest street turbo on the planet, the Precision 6870 turbo.
The PT6870 features a CNC-machine 2618-forged aluminum compressor sporting a 68mm inducer while the turbine wheel has a 70mm exducer. There are two compressor cover options: ported “S” cover with 4-inch inlet/2.5-inch outlet, and a “H” cover with 4.0-inch inlet/3.0-inch outlet.
For a 3.0 liter or larger motor we recommend the H Cover because of the 3" outlet. Smaller high rev motors will do well with the S Cover.
