When going all-in on a 2JZ cylinder head for a high rpm motor, weight savings at the bucket is very helpful. Shimless buckets are exactly that buckets that designed in various sizes which eliminate the shim and bucket used on the factory cylinder head.

The weight savings is almost 50%, so that certainly helps when you get to 8,800 rpm+ motors. If you have not machined and done initial assembly on your head then you can save a lot of hassle and purchase shimless buckets that are all the same dimensions.

In order to do this, which we recommend for every cylinder head, make sure whoever is building your head has a 'set valve height tip length'. If you take care of that, then since the tip lengths are all the same the buckets can all be the same.

Since the majority of the weight is in the shim itself, you eliminate that as well as reduced weight in the shimless bucket itself.
